So Ryan, the Red Wings from 2008, that’s a team that defeated Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, who ended up going to the final the year after and exacting revenge.
But that, that Red Wings team got the most, first place votes.
what made them so great in your mind?
Well, you know, I think you look at those Red Wings teams at the time and just the, the depth of talent they had was incredible.
And when I looked at this list, it wasn’t only the run that they had in that particular year, although the Red Wings did have an incredible run, I mean, they marched through that, that cup, tournament.
But also, like how many Hall of Famers did you have, right?

And, you know, you look at Detroit headlined by Nicklas Lidstrom, I mean, they had one of the greatest defensemen of all time.
So I, I actually had that team fourth on my personal list.
Yeah.
But I will say, like, it was a pretty tight group, at the top and, you know, it- almost interchangeable, I would say.
And y- a- again, you know, you look at all the names that Detroit had at the time, certainly a worthy winner.
Yeah, that, that was two years after Stevie Y retired, and you mentioned Nicklas Lidstrom captained the team to Stanley Cup.
I think he was the first Swedish captain, maybe first European captain to win a Stanley Cup.

But Datsyuk was a Selke, Lady Byng and the Plus Minus Award winner that year.
You had Zetterberg in his prime.
You had The Mule, Johan Franzen, Kris Chelios, Nicklas Kronwall, and Brian Rafalski were on your back end.
And a goaltending tandem that included not only Dominik Hasek but, Chris Osgood as well.
