SALT LAKE CITY – After suffering a 4-2 series loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Utah Mammoth finished with an overall record of 45-35-8 (92 regular season points, 4th in the Central Division).
Reflecting on the Club’s second full season in Utah, the following is an analysis and letter grade for forward Dylan Guenther.
Utah Mammoth forward Dylan Guenther
Stats: 85 GP, 43 goals, 35 assists, +7 plus/minus
Dylan Guenther’s second season in Utah
When Dylan Guenther sat down in front of the microphone to address the media ahead of training camp last fall, he made his intentions clear right from the get-go.
Find more ways to put the puck in the back of the net.
Despite already having one of the best releases in the National Hockey League at the age of just 22, Guenther recognized that would no longer be enough to take his game to the next level.
Now circled in bold red ink at the very top of every opposing scouting report, No. 11 simply couldn’t settle for only taking shots from the left faceoff circle.
Rather, he’d have to go right at the net in order to diversify his skillset and force teams to respect him throughout every inch of the offensive zone.
“Down low, holding onto pucks down low, getting inside more, scoring greasier goals, scoring in tight,” Guenther said in response to how his offseason training would translate to the ice.
“That’s what I’m good at is shooting it, finding different ways to score and being more well-rounded that way.”
To no surprise, Guenther scorched nearly every net in the league as he posted a career-best 40 goals (tied for 15th in the NHL) during the regular season before leading the team in playoff goals (3) and points (5) in the first round.

But Guenther is not just a goal scorer.
In addition to his elite offense, No. 11 also prides himself as a complete 200-foot-player who boasts an impressive game in the defensive zone.
While Guenther was on the ice for 104 goals in favor of the Mammoth this season, he only allowed 62 against.
“Goal scoring got me into the league but being able to defend and stuff got me more minutes,” Guenther explained.
“I take pride in that and I’m competitive. I don’t like when they score when I’m on the ice…if you want a winning team, everyone has to defend.”
Grade: A+
Looking ahead to next season
Transitioning to his third full season in the league, the goal for Guenther is pretty simple.
Already possessing the right skills, mindset, and work ethic, the talented forward just needs to keep getting better.
“I’ve gotten better every single season,” Guenther said. “I just want continuous improvement. It might not show up all the time on the game sheet, but I think just trying to strive and get better every single season is my goal.”
“I feel like I can hold onto more pucks down low. Try to work on protecting the puck just a little bit better. Spinning off guys and stuff…and then just speed and strength. The faster I am, the more productive and better the team will be.”
There’s no denying that 11 in mountain blue is a special talent.
As a top 15 goal scorer just two full seasons into his career, the best thing Guenther can do is just as he said.
Come back stronger and faster knowing the rest will take care of itself.
As long as he continues to do those things, there’s no reason Guenther can’t be a top 10 goal scorer in the National Hockey League soon with the potential to be top five or even top three at some point in the future.
