We have movement within the Montreal Canadiens organization today.
Mathias Laferrière, a Quebec-born forward well known to fans, is now part of the Montreal Canadiens organization through the Trois-Rivières Lions.
That spot confirms his role within the Canadiens’ affiliate pipeline.
Personally, he is a player who intrigues us.
Born in Montreal, Laferrière dominated the QMJHL before making the jump to professional hockey.
He is a former St. Louis Blues draft pick.
The forward was selected in the sixth round, 169th overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft.
A big return for former St. Louis Blues prospect Mathias Laferrière
His 2025-26 season was eventful.
The forward first played games in Slovakia before ending up with the Lions.
With Trois-Rivières, he delivered solid production.
Laferrière recorded 8 goals and 9 assists for 17 points in 30 ECHL games.
His presence on the Lions’ protected list confirms his place within the organization, and I am curious to see whether he could eventually contribute at higher levels.
After all, he already has more than 100 games of American Hockey League experience under his belt.
