Oakland County youth hockey doctor gets 10-25 years in prison

  • April 30, 2025

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A former youth hockey doctor accused of sexually assaulting teens has been sentenced.

Zvi Levran, 68, was sentenced to 10-25 years in prison by Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Jasmine Poles on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

He will also be required to register on Michigan’s sex offender registry for life.

Levran, who spent more than 20 years providing medical assistance to youth hockey programs in Michigan and Minnesota, was sentenced on the following 28 counts:

2 counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct

10 counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct

12 counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct

1 count of child sexually abusive commercial activity

1 count of child sexually abusive material – possession

1 count of child sexually abusive commercial activity – aggravated

1 count of child sexually abusive commercial activity- child sexually abusive material

Levran was initially charged in 2022, when he sexually assaulted a 19-year-old boy during a medical exam.

After that charge was announced, several other victims, primarily teen boys, came forward with allegations of sexual abuse.

In July 2023, a judge ruled that there was sufficient evidence for Levran to stand trial on 22 counts of third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

In November 2024, six new charges were added.

“Zvi Levran exploited his position as a trusted caregiver to abuse patients, including children,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald. “He now will be made to account for his crimes. It’s never easy for sexual abuse victims to tell their stories. The courage of the victims who came forward against Levran helped prevent this predator from abusing future victims. Our community is safer because of their bravery.”
