Hockey player who survived heart attack during game on the mend

Back on June 2, a men’s league hockey game took a scary turn when a player collapsed on the ice.That player, John Hack, is doing better now and is grateful for the players who sprang into action. It was a normal Tuesday night at the rink when John Hack suddenly collapsed. It was a heart attack.Players started CPR while others grabbed the AED and called 911. John doesn’t remember much, but he says he’s grateful people jumped in to help. “I wouldn’t be here today. That’s a great bunch of guys. It’s touching,” Hack said. “They all love playing with each other on the ice.” While John recuperates, his teammates have pitched in to keep the games running. “I got five great captains. I run a team too, and they took right over, no problems. Don’t worry about it. They all know what to do. It’s really been nice because I don’t have to worry about anything,” he said. John doesn’t plan to stay away from the ice for long. Instead of lacing up, he’ll be in the stands until he can get back out there. “I probably will because just to hang out, hope to play pretty soon. They keep telling me it’s going to be a while, but I don’t know,” said John. “I’m not one to sit around too long.” John encourages people to stay on top of their health so no one else has to go through what he did. “Get yourself checked up and do what the doctor says, even though you don’t want to.
