The Carolina Hurricanes are 40 minutes away from the Stanley Cup as they take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission of Game 6. The Vegas Golden Knights have some work to do if they want to force a Game 7 in this Stanley Cup Final.

Taylor Hall got the party started for Carolina just 3:47 into the first period when he tallied his seventh goal of the postseason. He slipped behind Rasmus Andersson and Noah Hanifin for a breakaway, and he tucked a shot underneath the arm of Carter Hart for the only goal of the period.

That goal aside, the goaltenders played very well in the first 20 minutes, but Carolina’s Brandon Bussi was truly exceptional. He made 10 saves, and a few of them came right on the doorstep. The Golden Knights did a decent job of creating dangerous chances, but Bussi turned them all away.

Despite the score, Vegas did a lot of things right in that first period, but can they solve Bussi? That will be the question as we enter the second period.

This series has been back and forth from the opening puck drop, and it’s still far from over. Stay right here and follow along as we provide live updates all night.
