The Nashville Predators’ new general manager, Chris MacFarland, has made his first trade since taking the job. The deal comes from the team he left as the general manager of the Colorado Avalanche to join the Predators.
The Predators are acquiring forward Ross Colton and goalie Isak Posch. Nashville is sending goalie Magnus Chrona, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick to the Avalanche.

Colton, in 73 games this season, had 24 points on nine goals and 15 assists. He was a plus-nine with two game-winning goals and had 159 total hits. Colton played in 11 of the Avalanche’s playoff games, recording five points on two goals and three assists. He was a minus-two and had 38 total hits. In 404 games over six seasons, he has 176 points on 89 goals and 87 assists. He is a minus-one with 13 power-play goals, 18 game-winning goals, and 822 total hits.
Posch this season in 28 games for the Colorado Eagles went 15-8-7 with a 2.78 goals-against average, a .891 save percentage, and two shutouts. He also played in two games in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies. He went 1-1-0 with a 4.09 goals-against average and an .840 save percentage. In 29 career AHL games, he’s 15-9-5 with a 2.90 goals-against average, an .888 save percentage, and two shutouts.
Chrona is signed to the Swedish Hockey League, only giving the Avalanche his rights. He appeared in 25 games for the Milwaukee Admirals this season in the AHL. He went 9-11-6 with a 2.94 goals-against average, a .894 save percentage, and a shutout.
