A Triangle couple is postponing their wedding by seven hours to make sure they can attend the Stanley Cup Parade.
Angela Howard and Henry Hegler had their first date on October 28th, 2025, at a Canes game.
Hegler said one of the first things they bonded over was their love for hockey.
“One of the first things we ever talked about was the Hurricanes, and that we both really loved hockey,” he said.
They were inside the Lenovo Center for game 6 when they realized the parade might coincide with their wedding day.
“We were supposed to have our wedding ceremony at 11 in the morning. It’s now 6 p.m..” Howard said.
The couple said there is no better way to spend the morning of their wedding day.
“Hockey’s been like a core point of our relationship, just like something we’ve always done together,” Hegler said. “We really got to know each other at hockey games, on the way to hockey games, stuff like that. There’s not really a reason that we wouldn’t want to spend our special day out here with the team that we both love.”
The couple is getting married at the home they just bought together.
