We have a minor transaction to report within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
There has been some movement involving the Trois-Rivières Lions, the affiliate club within the Montreal Canadiens organization, which has just completed a trade.
The team itself confirmed the acquisition.
The Lions have acquired a forward.
They acquired the rights to Ben Hawerchuk from the South Carolina Stingrays. And we also learned that this transaction finalizes a trade completed earlier this year.
It completes future considerations.
Those considerations stemmed from a March 3 trade involving goaltender Alexis Gravel.
This therefore marks the conclusion of a file that began in the spring.

Trois-Rivières obviously competes in the ECHL, below the Laval Rocket in the Montreal Canadiens development structure.
That level plays an important role.
It allows players to continue their development within the professional system and gradually move up the ladder.
Future considerations of this type are common.
They allow teams to complete a trade whose details are clarified at a later date.
With this acquisition, the Lions add to their pool of options.

Ben Hawerchuk, 28, is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound left winger who recorded 26 points over the past two seasons, along with 8 points in 7 games before that (with the Cincinnati Cyclones).
In his final OHL season with the Barrie Colts, he posted 50 points in 62 games.
