‘DO NO HARM’: Fisk University said Tuesday that it would support Metro Nashville’s efforts to regulate data centers, acknowledging the existence of “environmentally harmful” data centers and pledging to “do no harm” as they seek to build a 30 megawatt data center on the HBCU’s North Nashville campus. “Fisk University strongly supports efforts to regulate the development of harmful data centers in Davidson County,” a spokesperson wrote in an email. “We look forward to working with the Mayor’s office, the Metropolitan Council, and numerous Metro agencies to ensure that Fisk’s Innovation Center is constructed and operated in a manner that does not burden our neighbors.” The county’s planning commission is set to hear a modified version of the proposed zoning regulation and a proposed moratorium on data centers on Thursday, following backlash from the community about the Fisk facility and data centers in general, including one proposed next to the Nashville Zoo. — Sarah Grace Taylor
GAMING GROUND: Brentwood-based BLVD Capital, with support from the Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators and Nashville SC, announced plans to redevelop Brownland Farm in Franklin into a sports-centric, mixed-use site called The Banks at Brownland. The 233-acre property on Hillsboro Road near Mack Hatcher Parkway will include a 100,000-square-foot hockey facility with two sheets of ice, 11 fields for football, soccer and lacrosse, a golf practice facility and retail businesses focused on health and wellness. Current plans are for the Predators to manage the hockey facility. “The vision for The Banks at Brownland goes far beyond athletic facilities,” Predators CEO Sean Henry said in a release. “It is about creating opportunities for families, building community and enhancing quality of life for generations to come.” BLVD expects to break ground in 2027 following completion of the approval process. — David Boclair
