The 2026 NHL Draft is just over an hour away, and the Philadelphia Flyers are set to pick 21st overall. There is an absolutely wide range of possibilities for Philly in 2026. Before we get into the draft, let’s get into some last-second thoughts.
First of all, the Flyers have the problem of drafting 21st overall, which is a good thing. When you’re a team drafting in the top-5, or even top-10, it’s alot easier to get an idea of who will be available, and what the teams ahead of you will do.
There is probably a group of like 15-20 players, all ranging from 10-30 in the ranking, that could be options for the Flyers. One name I am keeping an eye on is Ryan Lin, a defenseman from Vancouver (WHL) who is headed to the University of Denver. Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers says he is a player who could slide in this draft.
Most common prospect I’ve heard could fall in the first round but could become a steal later if it happens.

Another player or two that I am keeping an eye on are Tynan Lawrence, C, Boston University, and Malte Gustafsson, a LHD from HV71 (SWE). Those are players I would categorize as “dream slips”. They likely won’t be around by 21. But if they start to fall, it could be something to keep an eye on.
Speaking of that wide range of prospects, if there is a player the Flyers love a little farther back in the class, a trade back later in Round 1 could be a way to add some extra early Day 2 picks. Especially given the Flyers’ lack of picks in Rounds 3, 4, and 6.
As for other possible trades, Rasmus Ristolainen noise has not gone away. The Senators still seem like a possible option there, but who knows?
Bruce Garrioch: The Senators have been chasing Rasmus Ristolainen of the Flyers since last spring’s trade deadline; They are one of several teams in that bidding, also including the Oilers – Ottawa Citizen (6/25)

The Flyers’ asking price was a first-round pick-plus back at the trade deadline. It’s hard to imagine that ask has gone down after his stellar postseason. First-round picks in this draft have been flying around.
The draft begins at 7:00 pm ET, and will be broadcast on ESPN (USA) and Sportsnet (CAN). Who do you want the Flyers to take?
