Jeff Gorton made an interesting statement during his latest press conference with the media.
No, the Montreal Canadiens prospect will apparently not be in Montreal next season.
It was Gorton who clarified the situation. The Canadiens’ executive vice president of hockey operations was very clear on the matter.
According to HFTV, Gorton left little room for interpretation.
Zharovsky will return to the KHL for the upcoming season.
That means he will continue his development in the KHL for one more year, and Canadiens fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing him make his NHL debut with Montreal.
This answers a question that had been circulating, as many were wondering whether he would make the move to North America sooner rather than later.
Jeff Gorton leaves the door open for Michael Hage next season
The KHL schedule partly explains the decision, as its season begins too early to allow for an immediate transition.
According to HFTV, Gorton was much more vague when discussing Michael Hage.
In Hage’s case, it is far less certain that he will not be with the Canadiens at the start of next season.
