Spokane, WASH. — Spokane Chiefs forward Chase Harrington is headed to the NHL, selected 36th overall by the Calgary Flames in the second round of the 2026 Upper Deck NHL Draft on Saturday.

The 6-foot-1 Prince George, British Columbia native capped a standout WHL career with a record-setting 2025-26 season. Harrington recorded 28 goals and 57 points in 61 games and led the Chiefs with 105 penalty minutes on the season. His performance earned him the Co-Player of the Year award for Spokane.

Over 194 regular season games with the Chiefs, Harrington compiled 130 points and 173 penalty minutes, establishing himself as one of the team’s most productive and physical forwards.

Harrington also earned recognition on a national level, finishing as the top-rated player in the U.S. Division in the final NHL Central Scouting rankings and coming in 26th among North American skaters.

His selection marks a historic moment for the franchise. Harrington is just the fourth Chief ever chosen by Calgary and the first since Mitch Wahl, who was also taken in the second round back in 2008.

Harrington was originally selected by Spokane with the eighth overall pick in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.
