BUFFALO, N.Y. — St. Cloud State freshman forward Jonah Sivertson was selected in the fourth round (113th overall) in the NHL Entry Draft on Saturday, June 27.

Sivertson is a 6-foot-3, 194-pound 17-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan.

He played last season for the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. During the regular season, he had 24 goals, 29 assists, 41 penalty minutes and was plus-46 in 66 games. He tied for 12th in the WHL in plus/minus.

In 20 playoff games, he had three goals, seven assists, two penalty minutes and was plus-1.

There were also four players with local ties that were taken in the draft.

Wyatt Cullen, a 17-year-old forward from Moorhead, was taken with the 10th overall pick by the Nashville Predators. He is the son of

St. Cloud State

Hall of Famer Matt Cullen. Wyatt had 16 goals, 29 assists, 43 penalty minutes and was plus-7 in 40 games for the United States National Team Development Program.

Bode Laylin, an 18-year-old defenseman from St. Michael, was taken in the sixth round (164th) by the Calgary Flames. Laylin played for the USHL’s Tri-City Storm last season and had 11 goals, 27 assists, 45 penalty minutes and was minus-8 in 55 regular season games.

In two playoff games, he had a goal, an assist and was minus-2. He is listed at 6-foot and 185 pounds. His father is Cory Laylin, who played high school hockey for

St. Cloud Apollo.

Will McLaughlin, an 18-year-old defenseman from Canmore, Alberta, was taken in the fifth round (159th) by the Vegas Golden Knights.

McLaughlin played for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks last season and had nine goals, 21 assists, 14 penalty minutes and was plus-11 in 68 regular season games. In four playoff games, he had no points, four penalty minutes and was minus-9. McLaughlin’s dad, Kyle, was a defenseman for St. Cloud State in the late 1990s.

KJ Sauer, an 18-year-old defenseman from Andover, was taken in the fifth round (136th) by the Philadelphia Flyers. Last season, Sauer played for Andover High School and for the USHL’s Lincoln Stars.

For Andover, he had eight goals, 17 assists and 42 penalty minutes in 15 games. For the Stars, he had two goals, three assists, 30 penalty minutes and was minus-1 in five regular season games. In eight playoff games, he had a goal, 10 penalty minutes and was minus-4 in eight games. He is the son of former Apollo defenseman Kent Sauer.
