The Florida Panthers acquired the rights to defenseman Radko Gudas from the Anaheim Ducks, general manager Bill Zito announced Monday. In exchange, the Ducks secured the rights to forward A.J. Greer, who spent the past two seasons with Florida.

Gudas has been in Anaheim for the past three seasons, but before that, he was a Panther. The 36-year-old began his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning before spending four seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers and one with the Washington Capitals before ultimately landing in South Florida.

The 6-foot, 208-pound defenseman spent the 2020-21 to the 2022-23 season with the organization. He was a part of Florida’s Stanley Cup Final push in 2023, and he logged seven points in 37 postseason appearances. Notably, he posted a plus-27 plus/minus in the 2021-22 season.

The Prague, Czechia, native nears his 900th career NHL game (885), an achievement he will likely reach back with the Panthers.

Last season, while in Anaheim, he served as a captain, his second time at the post after being selected in the 2024-25 season as well. Along with his leadership, Gudas is a physical, hard-hitting presence, much like the rest of the Panthers’ roster. He led all Ducks defensemen with 164 hits last season while also adding 13 points in 56 games.

Meanwhile, Greer helped Florida in the pursuit of its 2025 Stanley Cup win in 2025. His last season with the Panthers, though, was undoubtedly the most successful of his career so far.

He tallied 203 hits and notched career-highs in goals, assists and points. Across 78 games, he posted 17 goals, 15 assists and 32 points. He nearly doubled his output (six goals, 11 assists and 17 points across 81 contests) in his 2024-25 campaign. He also posted an impressive plus-14 plus/minus, another career-best for him.

The move to Anaheim would mark the sixth stop in the 6-foot-3, 244-pound forward’s career after also playing for the Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche.
