The Boston Bruins announced this morning, ahead of free agency, that they’ve signed goalie Luke Cavallin to a one-year, two-way contract extension through the 2026-27 season, which carries a cap hit of $850,000. Cavallin, in 34 games last season with the Maine Mariners, went 18-10-5 with a 2.35 goals-against average, a .917 save percentage, and four shutouts. In ten Kelly Cup Playoff games, he went 5-3-2 with a 2.02 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. He also appeared in eight games for Providence in the AHL, going 6-2-0 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.

Since coming from the OHL, he’s played for the Newfoundland Growlers, Trois-Rivieres Lions, and Mariners in the ECHL. The Toronto Marlies, Laval Rocket, and Bruins in the AHL. In 125 ECHL games, he is 76-35-9-3 with a .920 save percentage, a 2.47 goals-against average, and 11 shutouts. In 36 Kelly Cup Playoff games, he’s 22-10-3 with a 1.80 goals-against average, a .937 save percentage, and three shutouts. He helped lead the Lions to the Kelly Cup in 2025. He was named to the June M Kelly Award, which goes to the MVP of the Playoffs. Cavallin had the ECHL’s best save percentage in 2024-25 with a .929. In 20 career AHL games, he’s 10-7-2 with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage. The most AHL games he’s appeared in in a season came in 2023-24 when he appeared in nine games with the Marlies.
