On Thursday afternoon (July 2), the four days of development camp for the Los Angeles Kings wrapped up with the Black-and-White scrimmage at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, CA.

This was another productive and storyline-filled week of development camp for the Kings in this past few days. The fans and the media got their first glimpses at the 11 new draft picks for the Kings, along with some intriguing camp invitees and high-level college free agents this offseason.

Here are three Kings’ prospects and camp attendees who impressed at the development camp in the practices and scrimmage this week.

Liam Lefebvre, C

New Kings second-round draft pick and center Liam Lefebvre was one of the names we heard most among the LA prospects impressing consistently at development camp this week. Mayors Manor reported on July 2 that Lefebvre was able to beat multiple top Kings’ goalie prospects in camp and the scrimmages this week, including Carter George and new third-round draft pick Yegor Rybkin.

Not only did Lefebvre turn heads in practice and the scrimmage right away in development camp this past Monday, but he also scored one of the goals in the annual Black-and-White scrimmage on Thursday afternoon.

He reportedly displayed good stick handling and puck protection on two of the goals he scored in the scrimmages this past week, including the goal he scored on Rybkin in the Black-and-White scrimmage yesterday.

Lefebvre’s ability to showcase his offensive skill, puck protection, and consistent goal scoring makes him a prospect to watch in the Kings’ organization going into the future.

Vojtech Cihar, F

One of the bigger storylines coming out of the Kings’ development camp this week was the injury that Cihar suffered on Day 1 of practice a few days ago. Cihar was reportedly taken to the medical center this past Monday after taking a stick up high.

“They knocked, like, three teeth out. But right now I’ve got all of them back.”

But it sounds like Cihar was back out on the ice and back up to full speed as one of the fastest and most skilled forwards in development camp over this past few days. He continued to impress on Day 2 of development camp this week, posting a solid performance in practice with the forward group and the scrimmage.

Daniel Walters, F

Halifax Mooseheads forward Daniel Walters had a busy week at development camp in this past few days for the Kings. We heard consistently about Walters showing great effort and physicality in team drills and the scrimmages early this week.

Walters was impressive in development camp, including scoring multiple goals in the scrimmages this week and getting physical in practice and the scrimmages on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Walters got involved in a scuffle with Kings’ camp invitee and defenseman Nate Corbet.

Camp invitee Nate Corbet throwing bombs again — just like he did last camp. Took on Daniel Walters, another invitee. Wild scrap. Sloppy but mean intentions.

Walters responded in a really quick fashion on Tuesday after the scrap with Corbet on Day 1 of development camp, scoring one of the scrimmage’s first goals on Tuesday afternoon. The type of physicality and effort Walters brings, and his nose for the puck around the net, could make him an intriguing name to watch going forward.
