Buffalo native Elijah Kimble, the top prospect in New York state, will play college football at Syracuse University.
Even though he’ll be a senior this fall at Canisius High School, the running back on Friday committed to heading down the Thruway and joining head coach Fran Brown with the Orange.
With more than three-dozen offers, Kimble had quite the illustrious set of schools in his top 10, including powerhouses like defending national champion Indiana, as well as Ohio State, Michigan and Florida.
“Got a call from Coach Fran, one of the realest guys I know, and he just told me he wanted me to come play for him,” said Kimble. “At that time, I knew that’s where I really needed to be. It was very structured and my family loved it, my grandmother, my mom, my dad. And not too far from home, so everybody here can come see me play.”
