Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) – The Buffalo Sabres continue to add organizational depth this offseason, signing goalie Matt Villalta to a one-year, two-way contract on Saturday.
Villalta has spent the last three seasons as part of the Arizona Coyotes/Utah Mammoth organization, appearing in three NHL games and registering a 1-1-0 record, a 3.64 goals-against average and an .867.
In his seven years spent playing in the minors with the Ontario Reign (Los Angeles Kings) and Tuscon Roadrunners (Coyotes/Mammoth), the 27-year-old has amassed a career 123-83-24 record with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound netminder was a third-round pick (72md overall) of the Kings in the 2017 NHL Draft.
