We are obviously not done with offer sheets in the National Hockey League, and David Pagnotta has the details.
The Devils have clearly not gotten over the failure of their offer sheet for Barrett Hayton.
And according to Pagnotta, their summer is far from over.
As a reminder, Utah has just matched New Jersey’s offer sheet to retain Barrett Hayton, putting an end to the Devils’ ambitions.
For David Pagnotta, that rejection does not close the file. Instead, he sees New Jersey heading back into the hunt on the market.
His comments, made on The Sheet, leave little room for doubt.
“I don’t think the Devils are just gonna sit around after this one and go, ‘eh we took a shot, oh well’…
I think this is gonna be an interesting offseason,” Pagnotta added.

After trying the strategy once, New Jersey could very well do it again (and that’s without even mentioning the Philadelphia Flyers).
Offer sheets are popping up all across the NHL this summer, and a team that just had one fail now understands exactly how the process works.
Could Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens also be tempted?
The restricted free agent market has already proven it can heat up this summer. If New Jersey dives back in, its next target will generate far more buzz than the first one.
