The moves have been slowing down, especially for the Boston Bruins, but there are still some names on the board.
Around the league, every team has a question to answer before the season begins. Rory Boylen, with the help of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, put together one for each team. Also, the aftermath of the Leo Carlsson offer sheet, remaining free agent targets, and the Stanley Cup engraving.
Boston Hockey Now’s summer mailbag wrapped up yesterday, and there’s still a Bruins podcast to check out if you’re missing hockey during the summer months.
Happy Saturday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:
Boston Bruins
MAILBAG PT. 2: Thank you for the questions! Here is the second part of the summer mailbag. This one touches on the prospects, specifically Dean Letourneau and Will Zellers. We also field questions about RFAs, offer sheets, no-trade clauses, and the crowded blue line.
If you missed part one, check it out here.

NHL News & National Hockey Now
Sportsnet: The moves have slowed down, but that does not mean they are going to end. There are still pending trade requests and RFAs in the market, and each team has a question to answer before the season gets going.
For the Bruins: “What happens next with Pavel Zacha?”
Philly Hockey Now: Now what? The Flyers went all in to find their 1C, but the Ducks matched the offer sheet. The Flyers still have around $30 million in cap space, and both Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale. Will James dives into what is next for Philadelphia.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Plenty of free agents remain on the board. Dan Kingerski dives into which left-shot defensemen are still looking for new opportunities, including former Bruin Matt Grzelcyk.
Detroit Hockey Now: What if the Red Wings made the playoffs? Does Dylan Larkin request a trade, or does Patrick Kane stick around? Bob Duff dives into what would have changed if Detroit qualified for the postseason this year.
Forever Blueshirts: The Rangers have a crowded crease. Even more so after adding Joonas Korpisalo. They have Igor Shesterkin, but Dylan Garand believes he is NHL-ready. Jim Cerny has more on whether the Rangers should move into a three-goalie rotation.
Sportsnet: And it’s been news for a few days now, but I haven’t mentioned it here. Tom Dundon, owner of the Hurricanes, engraved his family’s name across the top two lines of the Stanley Cup. He’s not the first owner to do it, but man, the equipment manager was left off for a seven-year-old in Dallas?
