According to Sportsnet journalist Elliotte Friedman, “the Seattle Kraken have agreed to trade Shane Wright this summer and move on from this situation.”
Wow, that did not take long!
According to Friedman, the decision has already been made by the organization. He will be traded.
It remains to be seen which team will be able to acquire his services. Considering the Montreal Canadiens are probably the NHL team that knows Shane Wright best (after Seattle), because of the extensive work they did evaluating him in 2022, this could be an interesting situation to follow.
That said, the current favorite to acquire him, according to most rumors, appears to be the Vancouver Canucks.
Shane Wright is only 22 years old and remains an intriguing name.
He has carried enormous expectations since the beginning of his career without ever fully living up to them.
His most recent season illustrates the situation well.
He recorded 27 points in 74 games, production well below what was expected from a player of his status.
