The NHL offseason has slowed down since the beginning of the month, but a lot of money is still being dished out in the middle of July.
The Boston Bruins have been relatively quiet recently, aside from the front office changes and the regular season schedule reveal this past week, and that continued yesterday. However, through all of their additions this summer, a few former Bruins are calling a new rink their home rink come September.
Elsewhere around the league, Connor Bedard (21!) is now the third-highest-paid player in the league. The Wild also hit stop on a big pursuit so they can make a bigger swing, but that move is up to a GM who has not been hired yet. Also, there is a look at the remaining free agents. Both UFAs and RFAs.
Hey, at least we are only getting closer to the season opener. Only 72 days now.

DEPARTURES: In the wave of all the additions this summer, some old Bruins found new homes. The three regular-season departures all found new homes this summer, and eight more players left in the offseason.
Only Georgii Merkulov remains unsigned.

Chicago Hockey Now: Connor Bedard signed a five-year deal yesterday. He will carry a $15 million cap hit, the league’s third-highest, which falls $3 million shy of Leo Carlsson’s $18 million. Jack Bushman has more on the big news from yesterday.
Bedard will be an unrestricted free agent when his contract expires in 2031. He will be 25 years old.
Philly Hockey Now: This one is pretty sweet. Nicolas Deslauriers was traded from Philly to Carolina for a seventh-round pick and ultimately lifted the Stanley Cup in his new home. He’s still got a love for his old home, and he spent his day with the Cup in North Wildwood, NJ. PhHN’s Will James got the chance to catch up with the former Flyer during his big day.
NHLTradeRumors.me: The Minnesota Wild are prepping for a big swing, so much so that they passed up on Vincent Trocheck. They want Dylan Larkin. The Wild are on Larkin’s list, but they do not have sufficient cap space ($1.1M) to make his contract ($8.7M) fit.
Sportsnet: That trade lands on the shoulders of the yet-to-be-hired GM in Detroit. The man before him, Steve Yzerman, saw a lot through his eight-year run. Not the playoffs, but many other highs and lows.
Colorado Hockey Now: Aarif Deen was the inspiration for the Bruins’ departures article, and he took a look at where the departed Avalanche have ended up. The Bruins ended up with Ivan Ivan, but the Avalanche moved on from some other players throughout the course of the season.
New Jersey Hockey Now: Former Devils assistant coach Sergei Brylin is leaving the organization to become the head coach of Dinamo Minsk in the KHL. Brylin won three Cups with New Jersey and spent a decade coaching within the organization.
Sportsnet: The RFA class has been fun this year. There were two offer sheets, both matched, but plenty of names remain unsigned going into the 2026-27 year. Bedard signed yesterday, and Jamie Drysdale on Friday, but there are eight more RFAs without a contract.
Sportsnet: The UFA class has also been interesting, and some contract-worthy players still remain unsigned. Patrick Kane is the biggest name remaining, but there are plenty of other players still looking for a new home. Luke Fox dives into who is available, as well as some rumors and reports surrounding the names.
I’m not so sure about this one, but Fox links the Bruins to right-shot defenseman John Klingberg.
“Boston and Philadelphia are two teams still eager to boost the right side of their D.”
I would think the Bruins’ push comes before landing both Will Borgen and Connor Clifton.
