As we wade into the dog days of summer, the heat can sometimes get to us and make us go crazy. Sometimes we see things that aren’t there. Sometimes we get a little antsy when we don’t have a constant flow of information from our favorite hockey team.

I am not one to wear a tin foil hat, but something caught my eye on the Pittsburgh Penguins’ subreddit on Tuesday, and according to the post, the Penguins may have subtly begun the rollout for the team’s colorway for the yet-to-be-announced Hometown Remix alternate jerseys, plus given us a look at the team’s 60th anniversary logo that they may sport on jerseys or other gear this season.

Stick taps for u/StupidJagoff for the eye.

For those unaware, the Penguins on Tuesday announced that registration is open for the 14th annual Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk, and as StupidJagoff notes, previous logos for the event have used the traditional black and gold colorway commonly associated with Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams.

Here is the 2025 logo compared to 2026.

Of note, the skating penguin on the 2026 logo harkens back to the team’s infancy, sporting the long white scarf and the more portly, circular frame.

On the same event graphic, the Penguins also feature what appears to be the team’s 60th anniversary logo.

The change in colorway to different shades of blue is also a callback to the team’s early years. The Penguins would not adopt the black-and-gold look until the 1980 season.

The reintroduction of blue jerseys would also line up with a rumor Hooks wrote about back in May.

Pittsburgh has not donned a blue jersey in any capacity since the ill-fated 2011 season, when Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were lost to major injuries.

Leaks of the new third jersey have also not surfaced online, and it’s unknown when the league will officially unveil the new kits.

What say you? Are we grasping at straws or onto something bigger?

Whether you are in favor of the navy blue or still recoil in terror, it appears, in some form for fashion at least for next season, the Penguins could be back in blue.
