Forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard competed in his rookie AHL season with the Griffins and showed 44 points (20-24—44), 42 penalty minutes and a plus-17 rating in 60 regular-season games. He then ranked first on the roster with eight points (4-4—8) in eight playoff outings.  During the regular season, Brandsegg-Nygard ranked among the team leaders in points (3rd), assists (3rd) game-winners (8, T1st) and goals (5th), becoming the 11th Griffins rookie to score 20 goals and the first since Jonatan Berggren in 2021-22. In addition, Brandsegg-Nygard ranked among the AHL rookie leaders in goals (T6th), assists (T14th), points (T10th), plus-minus (T8th), power-play goals (7, T6th), shots (147, T7th), and game-winners (1st). He was dubbed the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending on March 1, showing six points (5-1–6), 17 shots and a plus-three rating in three games. Finally, Brandsegg-Nygard was named to the 2025-26 AHL Top Prospects Team.

The 20-year-old was one of three rookies to make the Detroit Red Wings’ opening-night roster out of training camp and totaled one assist in 14 games. He made his NHL debut on Oct. 9 against Montreal and notched his first NHL point with an assist on Oct. 23 at the New York Islanders. 

Brandsegg-Nygard finished the 2025-26 season with Team Norway at the World Championship. He finished third on the roster with six points (3-3—6) in five games, helping lead Norway to its first-ever World Championship medal (bronze).
