Flyers, Noel Acciari agree to terms on 2-year contract – NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Flyers got an up-close look at Noel Acciari in the first round of the playoffs.

Now they have him on their roster.

The club agreed to terms with the bottom-six forward on a two-year, $5.6 million contract. The deal has an average annual value of $2.8 million.

Per PuckPedia.com, the contract has a modified no-trade clause in Year 2.

Acciari had 13 goals, 12 assists and a plus-14 rating last season with the Penguins. The 34-year-old will replace some of the tough-to-play-against qualities that the Flyers lost in the Garnet Hathaway trade.

As a guy who can play center or winger, Acciari will provide head coach Rick Tocchet with different options. He won 61 percent of his faceoffs against the Flyers in the playoffs. He had an assist and a minus-1 mark during the series, which the Flyers won in six games.

“The way he played in the playoffs, he was hard to face,” general manager Danny Briere said Wednesday. “Our guys did not like playing against him. He completely dominated us in the faceoff circle. We thought that would be a player that could really help us.”

Acciari and his new teammates will probably have a good laugh about a feisty ending to a game last October between the Flyers and Penguins.

The Flyers will be Acciari’s sixth NHL team. He has played in 585 career games. He had a 20-goal season in 2019-20 with the Panthers. He also put up a career-high 27 points that season, which was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.

Jordan Hall and Ashlyn Sullivan discussed three moves made by the Flyers on Wednesday as NHL free agency got underway.

“He checks a lot of boxes,” Briere said. “The playoff experience, the hardness, the fourth-line role, the faceoffs, the leadership. We just felt it was a good mix for where we are now, what we needed.”

The Flyers also agreed to terms on deals with Zach Aston-Reese, Jack Studnicka, Danila Klimovich and Cam Dineen. Aston-Reese, Studnicka and Klimovich are forwards, while Dineen is a defenseman. All four are projected as pieces for AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley and could be call-up options.
