The NHL offseason has been quiet, especially yesterday, but there will be more moves this week. Plenty of players remain unsigned, and arbitration cases kick off on Thursday. 

The Boston Bruins are still quiet, but the NHL Network took a look at how the offseason has shaped up. Billy Jaffe mentioned the surplus of defensemen, which could lead to another move, and that is something Boston Hockey Now covered last week. 

Also, stay tuned for prospect coverage this week, as BHN is rolling out a top-15 prospect list. 

Around the league, the New York Rangers are not done making moves. They added this summer, but they are hungry for more. The Flyers signed Jamie Drysdale last week, and the contract is a win for both sides. There is more on the fallout of Steve Yzerman in Detroit, and a look at which Panthers may lead the team in scoring.

NHL Network (video via YouTube): Jamison Coyle and Billy Jaffe dive into the Bruins’ offseason moves, covering all of the moves that have happened since the draft. Jaffe mentioned the Bruins’ logjam on defense, noting that even though they added Will Borgen and Connor Clifton, more moves may be coming. 

LOGJAM: The Bruins have 10 NHL-caliber defensemen, but can only play six a night. More moves may be coming, but they are not imminent as Charlie McAvoy’s six-game suspension buys some time.

NHLTradeRumors.me: The New York Rangers are not done adding to their lineup, according to Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic. They’ve already added Pavel Dorofeyev and Oliver Bjorkstrand, but Chris Drury is not stopping there. Dave Litman looks into some targets for the NYR. 

Forever Blueshirts: With all of these moves, the Rangers need a big season from Adam Fox. They also need a healthy one, as he has not played any more than 74 games in the past three seasons. Last year, he played just 55. 

Philly Hockey Now: Jamie Drysdale signed a four-year, $26 million deal ($6.5M AAV) at the end of last week, and Will James writes that it’s a win-win situation. Drysdale, who is 24, is coming off a breakout season, and this deal walks him right into unrestricted free agency. He’s also cheap in a market where Bowen Byram commands $12.5M, Brandt Clarke $7.4M, and Pavel Mintyukov $7.2M. 

Detroit Hockey Now: More Yzerman! Though he did a great job drafting, with 10 of the 23 rostered players drafted by Yzerman, the next man up has to be better at attracting NHL talent. Max Smith dives into where the next GM has to be better. 

Florida Hockey Now: George Richards takes a look at which Florida Panthers could lead the team in scoring this season, and there are many candidates. Only three Panthers have led the team since the 2021-22 season: Jonathan Huberdeau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Sam Reinhart. 

PuckPedia: Arbitration cases start later this week and continue well into next week. The Jason Robertson situation is one to keep an eye on.
