Several observers believed an offer sheet for Columbus Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli was coming after the one submitted to Leo Carlsson.
Many even expected the Philadelphia Flyers to try again. But not so fast!
According to Anthony Di Marco, the Philadelphia Flyers have finished their offseason shopping.
Philadelphia has already taken its big swing of the summer, and the club has exhausted its ammunition.
That big move was, of course, the offer sheet submitted to Leo Carlsson.
It was a bold maneuver that generated enormous attention and shook the NHL.
Di Marco is also clear about what comes next.
According to him, the Flyers have no plans to repeat the exercise with Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli.
That chapter appears to be closed in Philadelphia. Which could potentially open the door for a team like the Montreal Canadiens.
Kent Hughes could now emerge as an offer-sheet threat for Adam Fantilli
The idea of a second offer sheet was certainly intriguing.
Striking twice in the same summer would have been incredible entertainment, especially for Flyers fans, but it appears that possibility can now be ruled out.
According to Di Marco, Daniel Brière has made his decision.
The price would be enormous, but do you believe this is something Kent Hughes might consider in order to land the second-line center he has been searching for?
“It may be unpopular, but the Flyers are likely done for the summer. They took their big swing when they offer-sheeted Leo Carlsson; They aren’t offer-sheeting Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli.”
