A hockey promotion built around team rivalry has turned into a boost for Southern Nevada nonprofits. HELP of Southern Nevada is publicly thanking the Utah Mammoth, the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, and Utah hockey fans after a jersey trade-in event resulted in donated gear now being worn by the organization’s youth and staff.

The gesture traces back to the 2026 NHL playoffs, when the Utah Mammoth ran a promotion encouraging fans to hand over their Vegas Golden Knights jerseys in exchange for Mammoth gear. The trade-in was tied to the Utah franchise’s first postseason appearance and drew a strong response from fans willing to part with their old team apparel.

Rather than discarding the collected jerseys, the Utah Mammoth donated them to the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, the charitable arm of the Golden Knights organization. The foundation then routed the jerseys to nonprofit groups throughout the Las Vegas area, with HELP of Southern Nevada among the organizations selected to receive a share of the donated gear.

HELP of Southern Nevada said the jerseys have since found their way onto the backs of the youth and staff members it serves, calling the donation a source of pride and connection for the people in its programs. The organization credited the outcome to everyone involved in the chain of giving, from the Utah fans who initially swapped their jerseys to the Golden Knights Foundation, which the group said helped ensure the donated gear served a meaningful purpose for local families.

What began as a lighthearted, rivalry-driven marketing push has, according to HELP of Southern Nevada, grown into a reminder of how sports fandom can extend beyond the game itself. The organization said it hopes the collaboration between the two NHL franchises’ communities continues to inspire similar charitable partnerships in the future.

HELP of Southern Nevada provides support services to families and youth throughout the Las Vegas area. The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation is the nonprofit, charitable extension of the Vegas Golden Knights organization.
