TRI-CITIES, WA. — After spending years away from home, Carter Savage said his next move in hockey will bring him back much closer as he committed to the UBC Thunderbirds.

Savage had been one of the most respected players on the Ams, and his move to British Columbia marks the start of a new chapter after his time in the Tri-Cities.

“It worked out great. You know, obviously I always wanted to head back there…. Sven’s (head coach) done a great job there with, you know, leading those guys.”

Savage said returning home made sense as he continued recovering from an injury he suffered in February, and he also pointed to the school as part of the decision.

“After, the injury in February and stuff like that, just with recovery, I think, for me, just coming back home, be the best plan. And it’s great schooling.”

Savage first arrived in the Tri-Cities as a young teenager, and now he is moving into his next opportunity with a different team and the same focus on development.
