Two players from the United States women’s hockey team that won the gold medal at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, as well as the team’s general manager, will be at Saratoga Race Course as part of the Whitney Day festivities on Aug. 8.

Gold medalists Haley Winn and Hayley Scamurra, and team general manager Katie Million — all New York natives — will take part in a meet-and-greet with fans from approximately 3 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 8, and the team will be celebrated with a race named in its honor.

“As three proud New Yorkers, Haley, Hayley and I are incredibly excited to be part of Whitney Day at Saratoga,” Million said in a news release. “It is such a special opportunity to celebrate our Olympic gold medal in our home state and share this unforgettable achievement with the racing community and its fans.”

Winn, a Rochester native, has established herself as one the top young defenders in women’s hockey. A standout at Clarkson University, where she was a first-team All-American, Winn was selected second overall by the Boston Fleet in the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League Draft and capped off her first pro season by being named PWHL Rookie of the Year.

Scamurra, a Buffalo native, won a silver medal as part of Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing before helping the U.S. to gold this past winter in Milan. A graduate of Northeastern University, she’s been a mainstay for the U.S. national team since 2019. This past season, she helped the PWHL’s Montreal Victoire win the Walter Cup championship.

Million, a native of Hannibal, is the director of women’s national team programs and general manager of the U.S. Women’s National Team for USA Hockey. She helped put together the gold medal-winning team in Milan after previously serving as GM for the 2022 Olympic team that won silver. She’s spent more than two decades in sports management, including roles with the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

“Saratoga has always been a place where excellence is celebrated, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Haley, Hayley, and Katie to the Spa on Whitney Day,” NYRA President and CEO David O’Rourke said in a news release. “Bringing home Olympic gold is an incredible accomplishment and having these extraordinary New Yorkers share their triumph with our fans promises to make an already special day at Saratoga truly unforgettable.”

Whitney Day, which will feature four Grade 1 races, will be highlighted by the Grade 1, $1 million Whitney Stakes, which is set to feature a star-studded field including Sovereignty, Magnitude and Nitrogen. Admission gates will open at 10 a.m. on Whitney Day, with a first post time of 11:45 a.m.. General admission tickets are $15 in advance or $20 if purchased on Aug. 8.
