We have a signing to report within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
The Trois-Rivières Lions are continuing their recruitment efforts by adding Quebec forward Thomas Lacombe, who will make the jump to the professional ranks.
The Montreal Canadiens affiliate confirmed the new signing.
“The Trois-Rivières Lions announce the signing of Thomas Lacombe!”
The 25-year-old left-shot centre is beginning a new chapter in his career following a university stint and time in the QMJHL.
Lacombe spent the past few seasons with the York University Lions in Ontario.
His university numbers were respectable.
In 91 games with York, the Boisbriand native recorded 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points.
His junior career was played much closer to home.
He spent three seasons with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL, collecting 31 points in 110 games.
Nicolas Lacombe adds scoring depth and championship experience to the Lions’ lineup
In 2021-22, Lacombe continued his development in the MJAHL with the Summerside Western Capitals, where he enjoyed several strong stretches.
The forward finished third in league scoring with 28 goals and 32 assists for 60 points.
His club won the league championship that season.
Here is what he had to say following the signing:
“I’ve always dreamed of playing at the professional level, and I’m definitely in good hands here!”
“I can’t wait to get started and give everything I have to help the team succeed,” the newcomer added.
He joins a group that already includes Anthony Beauregard, Mathias Laferrière and Sean Gulka. The Lions now have another centre to strengthen their depth down the middle.
