It appears New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes and award-winning singer Tate McRae have decided to call it quits.
During the 2026 Winter Olympics, there were rumblings about Hughes and McRae seeing each other. Speculation really started heating up right before Hughes helped Team USA win a gold medal. By March, it was reported by Us Weekly that Hughes and McRae were exclusively dating.
“Tate and Jack are dating,” a source told Us Weekly. “They started casually seeing each other late last year, so it’s still new, but they are exclusively seeing each other.”
Roughly five months later, Page Six reported Friday night that Hughes and McRae have broken up. However, there are conflicting rumors about who initiated their split.
“We hear the NHL star has been blabbing to pals that he broke up with the ‘Exes’ singer before they had a chance to publicly confirm their romance,” Page Six reported. “One source told us Hughes ultimately ended the relationship because he started seeing ‘red flags.’ They added he has already moved on and has started dating other people. Meanwhile, sources close to McRae told Page Six it was she who pulled the plug.”

Who is Tate McRae?
McRae, a Canadian singer and songwriter, released her first studio album in 2022. It wasn’t until 2024 though that she became an internet sensation due to her single “Greedy.”
By 2025, McRae released her third album, “So Close to What,” and earned a Grammy nomination for a feature with Morgan Wallen.
A month ago, McRae had the honor of presenting the match ball for the World Cup quarterfinal between Belgium and Spain.
