It’s hard to believe that it has already been over two months since the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup to put the cherry on top of a record-breaking season…and it’s now less than six weeks until the preseason begins. Time flies.
Monday, the Hurricanes announced their promotional schedule, including theme nights and ticket packages – which lets be honest, are honorary theme nights. Outside of the opening night and banner raising on September 19th, other notable, fan-favorite games include Whalers Night (VS. the New York Islanders) on January 28th, and the Star Wars ticket package on January 5th.

Tracking the Stanley Cup
Sunday, Jordan Staal got his day with the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe trophies in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He began the tour with a visit to the Thunder Bay Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, sharing the start of the celebration with patients, their families, and staff.
Afterwards, he hit up Mr. Sub for some poutine in the Cup before heading to a local school to spend time with the fans.
Overall, he kept his day with the trophies pretty low-key – just as you’d expect of the Hurricanes’ mild-mannered Captain.
Monday was Seth Jarvis’ day with the Cup, while Tuesday is for Jordan Martinook. Both days will be covered in the next issue of the Rumble, so stay tuned! Additionally, August 16th will be Logan Stankoven’s day, and August 19th will reportedly be Brandon Bussi’s day.
Noah Philp Announced Retirement
In a shocking turn of events, forward Noah Philp – who the Hurricanes claimed off waivers last season, and subsequently played for both the main club and their AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves – has announced his retirement from professional hockey. The news additionally ended his contract signed with [team] of the SHL.

Carolina Hurricanes Donate Gowns to Children’s Hospitals
Monday morning, the executive director of the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation, Amy Daniels, announced that the organization had made a $10,000 donation to equip a trio of children’s hospitals with specially-themed Canes gowns.
