Smith joins HSK on one-year AHL deal
 HENDERSON (August 11, 2026) – Henderson Silver Knights General Manager Tim Speltz announced today, August 11, that the Silver Knights have signed forward Shane Smith to a one-year AHL contract for the 2026-27 season.
Smith, 21, arrives in Henderson after splitting the 2025-26 season with the Western Hockey League’s Lethbridge Hurricanes and Kelowna Rockets, totaling 33 goals and 68 points in 61 regular season games and adding two goals and four points in nine playoff games for Kelowna. Smith earned the Doug Wickenheiser Trophy last season, awarded to the WHL’s Humanitarian of the Year.
A native of Cessford, Alberta, Smith played in 264 WHL games across parts of six seasons with Kelowna, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat. From 2020-26, the 6-foot-1 forward posted 93 goals, 183 points, and 257 penalty minutes for his junior career.
Smith attended Golden Knights Development Camp in 2024.
