The Boston Bruins have announced new jersey numbers for some of their newly acquired talent, as well as a change for one existing player.

It’s not major or groundbreaking news by any means, but with the release, we are one step closer to the start of the 2026-27 regular season.

J.J. Peterka, No. 10

The Bruins’ big offseason splash will be returning to a number he wore early in his career. JJ Peterka will be the first Bruin to don No. 10 since Riley Tufte (10 GP), and AJ Greer (61 GP) was the last full-time member to wear the number.

Peterka used to wear No. 77, donning the number during his time in both Buffalo and Utah. In late 2022, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic ($) asked why No. 77, and Peterka said that “when you put a mirror down there it says JJ which is kind of nice.” That number was never an option for Peterka in his new home, as it hangs from the Garden rafters, so he is returning to one he wore through juniors.

And, no, it does not appear that James Hagens is going to switch from his No. 44 to his college/Team USA number.

Will Borgen, No. 17

Will Borgen settled into No. 17 with the New York Rangers, and he will keep the same number in Boston. He previously wore Nos. 3 and 33 during his time with Seattle and Buffalo, but both of those numbers are hanging from the rafters.

Borgen is the first Bruin to wear No. 17 since Milan Lucic’s second stint with the Bruins, and before Lucic was Nick Foligno. He will be the 22nd player in Bruins franchise history to wear the number on his back.

Ivan Ivan, No. 49

Acquired in the deal that sent Fabian Lysell to Colorado, Ivan Ivan will wear No. 49 with the Bruins. Only one player wore the number after Rich Peverley’s departure in 2013, Max Jones, who wore it for seven games in the 2024-25 season.

Joe Juneau finished with over a point per game wearing the number from 1991-94.

While with the Avalanche organization, Ivan wore No. 82. He wore No. 49 while playing with the Cape Breton Eagles (QMJHL).

Connor Clifton, No. 75

This one should not have come as a surprise, and the Bruins team roster had Connor Clifton listed as No. 75 shortly after he landed in Boston. At least they didn’t give everybody a rush by posting a “TRADE ALERT” this year.

Clifton was the third Bruin to don the number when he first arrived in 2019, following Hal Gill and Colton Orr. Now, seven years later, he takes the number off Lukas Reichel’s back for the 2026-27 season.

Clifton retained No. 75 throughout his stops in Buffalo and Pittsburgh, and he carried the number with him to Team USA at the IIHF World Championships.

Lukas Reichel, No. 76

Lukas Reichel adds one to his old number and becomes the fourth Bruin to wear No. 76. He’s the first Bruin to wear it since Alexander Khokhlachev from 2014-16, and assistant GM Dennis Bonvie wore it during the back half of the 2001-02 season.

Reichel wore Nos. 27 and 73 before his time in Boston, but neither of those numbers is available.
