The New Mexico Goatheads announced that they’ve signed forward Jake Chiasson for the 2026-27 season. The Edmonton Oilers selected Chiasson 116th overall in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
Chiasson, 23, joins New Mexico for his fourth professional season. Throughout his ECHL career, he has played with the Fort Wayne Komets, Orlando Solar Bears, and Allen Americans. Chiasson started his ECHL career with the Komets during the 2023-24 season. In 68 games with the Komets, he recorded nine goals and eleven assists for 20 points. The following season, Chiasson played with the Orlando Solar Bears, recording one goal and six assists for seven points in 20 games. Last season, he recorded two goals and six assists for eight points in 14 games with the Allen Americans.
Throughout his professional career, he has also played in the AHL level with the Bakersfield Condors and Belleville Senators. In 40 AHL games, he has recorded one assist and ten penalty minutes.
Chiasson’s WHL Career
Prior to going pro, the Abbotsford, British Columbia, native played five seasons of junior hockey in the WHL. Throughout his time in the WHL, he played with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Saskatoon Blades. Jake Chiasson played with the Brandon Wheat Kings for four seasons, recording 30 goals and 51 assists for 81 points in 141 games. During the 2021-22 season, he added three assists in six playoff games with the Kings. During the 2022-23 season, the Kings traded him to the Saskatoon Blades. While playing with the Blades, Chiasson recorded ten goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 33 games. He added four goals and five assists in 18 playoff games with the Blades.
