Vincent Iorio is sticking with the New York Rangers organization for at least one more season.

The 23-year-old defender signed a one-year contract with the Rangers that will pay him $850k in the NHL and $125k in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Iorio became a restricted free agent after his entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals, originally signed in 2021, expired.

Iorio joined the Rangers last January when they claimed him off waivers from the San Jose Sharks. He played in just six games for the Eastern Conference team, recording zero points and averaging 13:05 of ice time per game.

Before joining New York, he appeared in 21 games with the Sharks and notched three assists. He also skated in six games with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda and recorded seven assists. Iorio also landed on the Sharks via a waiver claim, coming over from the Capitals.

At the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign, Iorio made the Capitals’ Opening Night roster for the first time in his career but was a healthy scratch in all four of the club’s first games of the season. Iorio had played in nine NHL games for the Caps since the 2022-23 season. He has yet to score his first NHL goal.

After the season, Iorio returned to the Giant Center in support of the AHL’s Hershey Bears, with whom he won back-to-back Calder Cups in 2023 and 2024.
