The Seattle Kraken have made another coaching change.

After last week’s announcement of the hiring of Lane Lambert – the team’s third head coach in its past three seasons – the club revealed that two of its four assistant coaches would not be back for the 2025-26 NHL season.

Remaining on board to serve alongside Lambert are defensive coach Bob Woods and the first female NHL assistant Jessica Campbell.

Let go were goaltending coach Steve Briere and former Jets bench boss Dave Lowry.

“As Lane Lambert evaluates the coaching staff, we’ve made the decision to relieve assistant coach Dave Lowry and goaltending coach Steve Briere of their duties,” the Kraken’s new general manager Jason Botterill shared in a team statement. “We appreciate all their hard work and dedication to the Kraken and wish them luck on their future endeavours.”

Lowry, the father of Jets’ captain Adam, joined Seattle’s staff during the summer of 2022, in advance of the team’s first run to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He finished off the season prior as interim head coach in Winnipeg after Paul Maurice’s memorable departure.

Briere, on the other hand, had also joined Lowry and company in Seattle during the offseason in 2022 after seven years as goaltender coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The two worked under Dave Hakstol and Dan Bylsma, until he was recently relieved of his duties.

Lowry will now look to find his way within the never-ending NHL coaching carousel. Prior to his time with the Jets and Kraken, Lowry served as the bench boss in Brandon with the Wheat Kings.
