NEW YORK (AP) – The puck drops this month on a new season for the Carolina Hurricanes and there’s another way to watch this season. Amazon’s Prime Video will be the local streaming home of the Canes and five other NHL teams this season. It’s part of a multi-year agreement announced by the league Wednesday.

Defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina, Anaheim, Columbus, Dallas, Minnesota and St. Louis will have their games on the platform in their markets.

The Carolina Hurricanes’ new network will be named Hurricanes Hockey Network, or HHN, according to Mike Sundheim, vice president of communications for the Hurricanes.

“Given the evolving landscape of sports broadcasting, it is vital that we make sure we are meeting our fans where they are,” said Sundheim in a news release. “Streaming is a key piece of that puzzle, and we are thrilled for the launch on Prime Video, which is readily accessible across a variety of devices. We look forward to announcing additional ways to watch our new network ahead of opening night.”

The NHL announced in July it would be producing games for the Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Wild and Blues.

“Fans want an easy way to find and follow their favorite teams, and this agreement with Prime Video gives clubs the flexibility to meet that demand as the market evolves,” NHL chief media officer and senior executive VP David Proper said.

The regular-season home opener for the Canes is on September 29 against the Florida Panthers.
