The Boston Bruins prospects will report to rookie camp at Warrior Ice Arena one week from today; we’re almost there. 

Training camp opens on the 16th, with the Bruins expected to take the ice on the 17th. It will be a shorter camp, though, as opening night is on the 29th. That shorter camp doesn’t do any favors for the young players or those competing for a roster spot, but Marco Sturm said he will be making changes throughout the season. 

The Bruins Alumni also released their 2026-27 schedule yesterday. 

Elsewhere around the league, there’s a reported deadline for a Drake Batherson extension in Ottawa. He wants max term, and now he wants the contract done before the 2026-27 season gets going. There’s also more from Luke Evangelista after his trade, and from Joe Sakic regarding Artturi Lehkonen negotiations. 

The Athletic released its player tier list, and Prime Video Canada announced its broadcast schedule. The Bruins will play four games on Amazon this season, including both games in Montreal.

TRAINING CAMP: Training camp and preseason will look a little different this year. It impacts them differently, but both Marco Sturm and Frederic Brunet hit on it in separate interviews this week. The Bruins will have four preseason games and less than two weeks from their first day on ice until the season opener.

NHLTradeRumors.me: Drake Batherson is in the last year of his contract. In August, Bruce Garrioch reported that Batherson is looking for an eight-year deal before the CBA changes come into play on Sept. 16. Now, the latest report is that Batherson wants an extension before the Sens open the season on Oct. 3. If not, the expectation is he will walk to free agency on July 1.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Luke Evangelista did not see the trade coming. The 24-year-old was getting ready to head back to Nashville, but his agent gave him a heads-up and he re-routed to Newark … how nice. He deferred on extension talks, but he knows his game fits in with the Devils and he’s excited to get started. 

Colorado Hockey Now: The Avalanche just locked Cale Makar in for another eight years. Now they turn their attention to Artturi Lehkonen, but those negotiations could stretch into the regular season. Aarif Deen has more on Sakic’s comments. 

The Athletic: Player tiers are out. It’s no surprise that Connor McDavid (1A) is at the top of the list, or that David Pastrnak (1C) is in the top tier, labeled MVP. Charlie McAvoy (3A) and Jeremy Swayman (3B) were the other two Bruins on the list, both in the all-star tier. 

TSN: There’s been an uptick in American-born players requesting a trade out of Canada. MacKenzie Weegar, who was dealt to Utah, said it is “a bit unfortunate to see players wanting out of Canada.” This summer alone, Brady Tkachuk was traded, and Connor Hellebuyck requested a move. Last season, Quinn Hughes asked out of Vancouver and was traded in December. 

Sportsnet: From goalies (including a former Bruin) to young players in need of a breakout, Sonny Sachdeva lists one player who has to deliver for each team in the Metropolitan Division. 

Sports on Prime Canada (via 𝕏): Prime Video released the schedule for Wednesday Night Hockey in Canada. The Bruins will be featured on four broadcasts:
