He then was hired by the Chicago Cubs as an intern in the club’s baseball operations department.Reports also suggest that the Cubs promoted him to director of baseball operations in 2018, and then director of professional scouting in 2019. The following year, Greenberg was named assistant GM of the Cubs. He held that role until moving to the Blackhawks in a similar position.While the GM search for the Red Wings was continuing, Greenberg’s name had emerged as an intriguing name during Detroit’s search despite having no traditional NHL front-office background.
