After a very long wait, college hockey is returning to the home of the New Jersey Devils.
Prudential Center announced Monday that it will host the inaugural Hockey Knight in Jersey on Thursday, Dec. 10, featuring Army West Point against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
The game will mark the first NCAA Division I men’s hockey contest at the Devils’ arena since the 2014 Liberty Hockey Invitational, which featured UConn, Princeton, Yale and Merrimack.
The matchup comes just a couple days before the 127th edition of the annual Army-Navy football game at MetLife Stadium, helping create a major weekend for college athletics in New Jersey.
“With college hockey being the latest addition to our thriving sports and entertainment programming portfolio, Prudential Center continues to take great pride in delivering a diverse array of event programming to our communit,” Dylan Wanagiel, Vice President of Sports Properties and Special Events for Prudential Center/HBSE, said in a statement.
Penn State enters the 2026-27 campaign following another NCAA Tournament appearance. They also reached their first-ever Frozen Four in 2025. Army, meanwhile, is entering its second season under head coach Zach McKelvie and returns reigning Atlantic Hockey America Goaltender of the Year JJ Cataldo.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET that night in Newark, according to Ticketmaster.
Public ticket sales are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 9, at noon ET, also via the Ticketmaster platform.
