Key Stories to Watch
Utah is the first team to make a second visit to Ball Arena this season, as the Avs hosted the Mammoth in their home opener on Oct. 9. They also currently hold the second wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
The Avs are 1-0-1 against the Mammoth, winning their home opener 2-1 before falling in OT just over a week later on the road. The Mammoth can become the first team to defeat the Avalanche twice in any fashion after Minnesota failed to reach that mark on Sunday.
Colorado is 14-0-2 and is on a 12-game winning streak at home. The franchise record is 18 games during the 2021-22 season, which eventually led to a Stanley Cup championship.
Scott Wedgewood is expected to be back between the pipes as head coach Jared Bednar continues to alternate his goalies on a game-to-game basis when they’re both healthy. Wedgewood will likely face Utah’s Karel Vejmelka. Both of them, along with Jake Oettinger in Dallas, were the first three goalies to reach 15 wins this season. They all play in the Central Division.
The Avs are expected to run the same lineup, which keeps Gabe Landeskog on the top line with Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas.
