That score was Marchand’s second of the night and helped the Panthers overcome the fact they surrendered the latest tying goal in Stanley Cup Finals history. Marchand staked Florida to a 4-3 lead with a short-handed goal with 7:51 left in the second period, but Edmonton drew even with just 18 seconds showing on the clock on Corey Perry’s eighth goal of the playoffs.

Leon Draisaiti was the winning scorer in Game 1, which also came late with 31 seconds showing in the first overtime period. That score came off assists from Perry and from Connor McDavid, who now owns four of the top 21 single-season playoff assists totals in NHL history.
