Both teams opened the NHL preseason against the Washington Capitals and will now meet in Boston for their second exhibition game. The Bruins earned a 3-2 shootout win over Washington in their opener, while the Flyers will play back-to-back after falling 5-2 to the Capitals on Monday.

Philadelphia got off to a strong start Monday, scoring less than three minutes in on a Jack Studnicka power-play goal. Washington responded with two goals before the end of the first period, but the Flyers tied the game in the second. From there, the Capitals took control, scoring the final three goals to pull away for the 5-2 victory.

Boston’s opener against Washington was much tighter. The Bruins trailed entering the third period but battled back, with Charlie McAvoy tying the game with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime, Boston secured the victory in the shootout. Washington failed to score on all three attempts, while James Hagens converted the lone shootout goal with a backhand finish.
