For the most part, the San Jose Sharks have been healthy through the start of training camp, but they haven’t escaped it completely.

Winger Adam Gaudette is dealing with an upper-body injury that he suffered on the second day of training camp. It is unclear how it happened, but even the Sharks didn’t expect him to be out this long. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky provided an update on Wednesday.

“Gaudette is still day-to-day. Didn’t skate today,” Warsofsky said. “We thought [he’d be back], but we’re going to let [the injury] calm down a little bit.”

Patrick Giles also suffered an upper-body injury during last night’s preseason loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Warsofsky has described Gaudette’s injury only as soreness, which he did Tuesday morning. Gaudette may not have the biggest role on the San Jose Sharks, but he scored 17 goals last season.

“He can play up and down our lineup. Can play left, right, center. We saw that,” Warsofsky said. “He was a really good piece for us last year. He can move up and down our lineup, and he’s a really good kid.”

When asked whether he could miss the start of the season, Warsofsky said, “That’s probably too early to say.”
