One of the Tampa Bay Rays’ top arms will be out of action for the American League Division Series, manger Kevin Cash said Wednesday evening.

Cash said before the Rays took on the New York Yankees that left-hander Shane McClanahan would not be on the ALDS roster because of tightness in his forearm.

The manager did say McClanahan could be added to the American League Championship Series roster if the Rays advance past the ALDS.

That will depend on how his throwing sessions go, Cash said.

McClanahan has made 24 starts this season, with a 10-7 record and 3.36 ERA.

He has pitched 118 innings, registering 106 strikeouts.

The Rays clinched the AL East title when they won the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday night against the Yankees in New York.
