The Dallas Stars completed their four-game preseason schedule with a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night at Grand Casino Arena.
Radek Faksa opened the scoring for Dallas, finding the back of the net in the first period off assists from Oskar Bäck and the newly acquired Joel Kiviranta, who is back for a second stint with the Stars. Joel Eriksson Ek tied the game early in the second period, but it was Thomas Harley who scored what wound up being the game-winning goal for Dallas just before the second intermission. Harley’s score was assisted by Mikko Rantanen and Jamie Benn.
Jake Oettinger was inactive again, meaning his first action of the season will come in the regular season. Casey DeSmith got the start for the Stars and was terrific, stopping 26 of 27 shots.
Dallas went unbeaten in the preseason, picking up a pair of wins over St. Louis and another pair of wins over Minnesota. The real action begins Friday, Oct. 2 when the Stars host the Blues at American Airlines Center at 8 p.m. for the season opener.
