HAMDEN, Conn. (WFSB) – The Quinnipiac men’s hockey team is ranked seventh in the nation to start the new season.
The Bobcats have nine NHL draft picks on its roster this year. Those players turned down professional opportunities for one more collegiate season.
The players chose to continue playing for head coach Rand Pecknold, who is widely recognized as one of the best coaches in college hockey. The team is pursuing the second national championship in program history.
Quinnipiac opens the season Friday in Hamden against New Hampshire.
